You’ve been waiting.  It’s finally time!!!  The mini sessions are back this March!  Saturday 3/27 and Sunday 3/28!  Where?  At the new CityCentre near the Beltway and Memorial, next to Town and Country.  The mini sessions will take place at a {covered} outdoor booth, so they are best suited to toddlers and older.  Are they limited to the little ones?  Absolutely NOT! 

• Did you just get engaged and want just a couple of fabulous shots?  Schedule a mini! 
• Are you a mom addicted to facebook and need a fabulous new headshot for your profile?  Schedule a mini! 
• Do you have several little ones who need updated portraits?  Schedule a mini! 

You can even schedule several if you want extra time (which is highly recommended for more than two peeps).  Just be sure to schedule early to get the best times, especially if you need a couple mini’s back to back. 

While you are there, you can check out a movie at Studio Movie Grill, have lunch at one of the fabulous restaurants, or shop at one of the stores… like Anthropologie!  Town & Country Village has other great shopping, like Pottery Barn, the Gap, White House Black Market, Gymboree, and Carter’s.  And don’t forget to grab a cub of java from Starbucks!  Mmmm!  There will also be other vendors during the market, so be sure to make time to browse all the great items!

This beautiful bride to be  told me she was camera shy.  Why?  I don’t know… she should have been a model.  Don’t you agree?

The wedding is going to take place in a small town north of Dallas this winter, but the bride (and her fiance) live in Houston.  Because it is going to be a winter wedding, she wanted to avoid lots of greenery and flowers, which don’t fit the winter wonderland theme.  So, some friends of hers told her about Hotel Icon (http://hotelicon.com/)  I had never heard of it, but it’s smack dab in the middle of downtown Houston, at 220 Main Street.  Well, we both fell in love with the images shown on the website, and neither of us saw it in person until the day of the bridal session.  WELL… let me just say… it did not disappoint.  You have to check it out the next time you need a “getaway” without getting away!

I had the opportunity to photograph the wedding of Vanity Alpough and Kendrick Perkins this last Saturday in The Woodlands, Texas. 

Kendrick is the center for the Boston Celtics (NBA), so it was my first celebrity wedding.

This is the mother of the bride getting teary eyed as she watches her daughter prepare for the big day. 

(As the mom of a daughter, I wonder what the day will be like when I’m in these shoes.  {sniff sniff}  I get teary eyed just thinking about it.)

I know… I know… I’m a big dork, but I love to take photos of someone else taking photos.

This was the first performer of the evening, who reminded me of Frank Sinatra and that era.  He was truly awesome, and not like some wedding singers you may be accustomed to.

  Again… I wish I could give him proper credit.  But, on the bright side, I was happy to get a little rim lighting with my flash that was set up behind him.

We were there at the camera store until about 10:30.  Yeparooni… like I said, Dave ROCKS!  (So if you ever need any camera equipment, you should definitely give Dave at {Rockbrook Camera} a call… and if you’re out of state, you won’t have sales tax!)  Anyhoo… we were BS-ing and talking “shop” IN the shop, so it was awesome!  We tried out some new equipment and played around out of our comfort zone.  It was great!  (Dave, I totally owe you a beer!)  After that we drove around downtown a bit to check out some neat locations, and stopped to have a bite since Megan hadn’t eaten yet.  (Gotta love those gals who forget to eat.  Unfortunately I never have that problem.)  On the way back to the car, we were chatting about the names of everyone in the bridal party.  I had to chuckle at Megan who mentioned that the bride’s family owned a “small” trucking company and then she later mentioned the bride’s maiden name is Werner.  In case you don’t know, Werner is a very large trucking company.  They are everywhere.  I’m not sure I would know this, except for the fact that my brother-in-law has worked for Werner as a logistics manager for years, and he used to live in Omaha.  So, anyway, now I realized just how big this big wedding might be.

After that we were off to Megan’s place for the night, where we checked to make sure we had everything we needed and to make sure our batteries were charged, etc.  It was a late night (up till 1:30, if I remember correctly) and an early morning (up at 6:30), since we had to be up, ready and out the door by around 8 so we could be to the salon by 9.  At the salon, I met the bride, and all of her bridesmaids, as well as the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom.  Everyone was so nice and down to earth. 

After everyone finished at the salon, we were off to the church.  The church was big and beautiful, with the most amazing light I have ever seen inside a church.  A lot of churches have lots of dark wood and stained glass windows, which are beautiful, but they make the inside so dark.  This church was light and bright and gorgeous.  Unfortunately the groom ran into a snag (pun intended , when his pants split down the middle.  But, although it was a little stressful tracking down a new pair, everyone handled it was grace and laughter.  The bride and groom had elected to do their first meeting before the ceremony, for the sake of a more intimate setting for their photographs and video, and the groom even did so with his drafty pants.  They were a real hoot to photograph. 

The ceremony went off without a hitch, as they say, and then the entire wedding party took a trolley to the old train station for more photographs and then on to the reception at the Hilton across from the Qwest Center (where Omaha has all their big concerts).  The reception was beautiful, with a six tiered wedding cake, a three tiered groom’s cake, and gorgeous flower arrangements at every table.
