Well, if you can imagine what someone named Roxy would be like… that is exactly how Roxy is. She’s fun and silly and boisterous, and takes life by the horns… well… all that when she’s not taking a nap on the floor or getting belly rubs. You know how it is. Life is tough. I mean… life is Ruff. Yep, that’s it. Life is RUFF.

Meet Huckleberry. He is a black chow, approximately 3-4 years old. Huckleberry was adopted by my sister-in-law (Kim) and brother-in-law (Matt) a couple of years ago. Poor Huckleberry did not have an easy puppyhood before those two found him, and after two and a half years with Kim & Matt, he has finally started to trust people again. (I think that the scraps of steak that get snuck to him under the table help a bit…) While over for dinner the other night, I had all of my equipment in the car from a photo shoot, and decided it was time to try a shoot with Huck. Having trust issues with human-kind from his puppy days, he is often pretty skittish, but we just let him stay in “his” corner, and we worked around him. He really wasn’t too sure what was going on, but I think we got some good shots anyway.

My sister-in-law asked if the fact that I did a photo shoot of her “kids” meant I thought she wasn’t EVER going to have any of the human variety. Of course not! But either way, I’m a proud auntie!

Next we need to work on “Pam”, their other black chow that is a bit older, but a more recent addition. Pam is furrier than Huck and being so dark, I need some better lighting for her than the portable flash units I had with me that day. So stay tuned for those… one of these days!
